JOSE P. DE JESUS, Vice Chairman of the Spirit of EDSA Foundation, Inc. He is presently a member of the official family of President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III as the Secretary of the Department of Transportation and Communication. He is a well-seasoned professional that includes the following work experiences; namely: Former President & COO, Manila Electric Company (February 2009- June 28, 2010); President & CEO, Manila North Tollways Corporation (January 2000-December 2008); Executive Vice President, Philippine Long Distance Telephone (1993-1999); Chairman, Manila Waterworks & Sewerage System (1992-1993); Secretary, Department of Public Works & Highways (January 1990-February 1993); Chairman, Presidential Task Force on Post-Earthquake Rehabilitation, Office of the President (August 1990-August 1991); President, Development Bank of the Philippines (December 1987-May 1991); as well as, many other Career Professional positions.
A graduate of AB (Economics) from Ateneo de Manila University in 1956. He took up his masteral degreee in Social Psychology also in Ateneo and graduated on 1966. In 1968, he finished his Graduate Studies in Human Development in the University of Chicago, U.S.A.
He is a Fullbright Grant in 1966 to 1968. Recepient of the Philippine Legion of Honor, Rank of Commander, conferred by President Corazon C. Aquino, June 1992; Most Outstanding Kapampangan in the Field of Education Award in 1986; Doctor of Philosophy in Humanities (Honoris Causa) Bulacan State University, December 2006; Doctor of Technology (Honoris Causa) Technological University of the Philippines, December 1991; and Award of Excellence, CEO Excel Awards for Excellence in Leadership Communication from the International Association of Business Communicators, December 2005.
